Giving Us Gas for 100 Yrs...

100 yrs ago today was the birth of the modern Service Station, a business dedicated to the concept of selling a single product (petrol) to the public. Prior to this groundbreaking idea, gasoline was dispensed at General Stores, Repair shops, or by Smithys around the country.

The concept of selling overpriced fuels to the consumer, as they do today, seems to have also originated in the early days of the motorcar. When this station opened on its 1st day, gasoline was 27 cents a gallon. That's the equivalent of $6.37 per gallon in today's dollars.

Nothing's really changed now, has it?
